Material Study

Materials chosen:

  • Wood - eco stained
  • Glass - double glazed
  • Thermal clear plastic - for light breaks in the roofs of the floors
  • Concrete

I have had to find an economical stain for the wood and wanted it to be of a dark brown colour, did a bit of research with testings and liked the colouring of the second row. The stain chosen was a stain called eco wood treatment from Canada http://www.ecowoodtreatment.com.

I have gone on the idea of double glazing all windows as it will keep heat in and insulate the house, it also keeps noise from both inside and outside to a more quite volume.

For the light breaks between floors I have chosen to go with a clear thermal plastic idea. A fully glazed translucent polygal. This is used for insulation and noise purposes, and will let a lot of light into the house.

Concrete is used for the piles under the house and also for the stairs inside the house, the decks outside the house and also cornet tiling for the roof.
